PSA students look forward for many years to the time they will be able to join us for this program in Newfoundland. Grade 9 and 10 students will spend two exciting weeks on the campus of Memorial University in St. John's, living in residence, learning and exploring the special culture of Canada's most easterly city.

Students will have one session offered below:

  • July 3 - July 16, 2009

Courses

Students will learn and explore the special culture of Canada's most easterly city. They will spend the first week at the Marine Institute and take part in hands-on activities. In the second week, students will take part in a course of their choosing offered by several university departments. The courses offered are those that have been popular with past PSA students.

 

Recreation

Excellent recreational facilities include the Aquarena which features a 65 m swimming pool, 2 giant water slides, and other water sports; as well as, basketball courts, softball diamonds and soccer fields.

Local cultural activities may include walking tours of St. John's, dinner theatre, studies of local churches and architecture, folk festivals, museums, art galleries, bird and whale watching, and the haunted walk.

 

Accommodation

Students will live in residence on the Memorial campus and be supervised by Peel Summer Academy staff who will travel with and live with them.

 

Fee

$2,385.000 + GST ($119.25) = $2,504.25

The fee includes registration, return air transportation from Toronto Pearson International Airport, ground transportation in St. John's, university residence accommodation, daily meals, instruction, supervision, and scheduled activities. Students may require some personal spending money for souvenirs and free time.
